Bad News For jacAPPS
App developer slips from first to second in Crain’s ranking
Southfield, MI – In a shocking development, former leading mobile app developer jacAPPS has slipped from first to second place in the May 2012 rankings of mobile application development firms in Southeast Michigan, according to Crain’s Detroit Business. In this year’s battle, jacAPPS was narrowly beaten by its direct competitor, Compuware. Management was stunned to learn that despite creating over 700 mobile apps that generated over 14 million downloads, this wasn’t enough to retain the lead.
“I’m horribly disappointed,” jacAPPS Vice President & General Manager Paul Jacobs announced. “It’s obvious to me that we have been way too soft on our four full-time employees. It’s hard to understand why they couldn’t sustain our lead over Compuware. Sure, they are a publicly traded company with more than 4,500 employees worldwide, but come on, how did a multi-national corporation like that beat us out?”
As a result of this defeat, jacAPPS has issued the following changes in company policy:
1. The work day has been extended until 6pm (from 5:30pm).
2. No more flip-flops will be allowed in the office. All employees must wear pressed white shirts and ties.
3. A determination will be made about the future of the company holiday party in early Q4.
“I realize that these may sound like Draconian measures, but they’re essential if we want to stay ahead of a company like Compuware,” says Jacobs. “Now, if I could only figure how to fit a Hard Rock Cafe into our 1,000 square feet of office space, we might have a better chance in next year’s report.”
The list of leading mobile application developers in Southeast Michigan appears in the June 18, 2012 issue of Crain’s Detroit Business. It is based on number of downloads of applications. For the record, Compuware is at 17,000,000. jacAPPS is at 14,000,000+.
Since 2008, jacAPPS has developed 714 iPhone, Android, and Blackberry apps for a diverse list of clients, including The Ann Arbor Art Fairs, The Detroit International Jazz Festival, C-SPAN Radio, public radio’s “Car Talk,” Michigan Radio, WCSX, and WRIF. The company wishes Compuware well, and looks forward to the 2013 rankings.
