500 apps
Nearly three years to the day that media consulting firm Jacobs Media announced the formation of jacAPPS, the company has reached an incredible milestone in mobile application development – its 500th application release.
“Back in the fall of 2008 with the economy facing unprecedented challenges, few would have expected a company like ours to emerge as the leading app developer for radio,” company President Fred Jacobs remarks. “Our annual Techsurveys pointed the way to the smartphone revolution and the explosion of the app culture.”
In addition, to radio, jacAPPS designs and builds apps for a wide array of business categories and industries, including festivals, events, sports brands, and other verticals. jacAPPS also works with advertising agencies as an outsource provider that connects their clients with the mobile opportunity. jacAPPS has created custom apps for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry platforms.
“We were fortunate to have been chosen as the app developer for great companies like Entercom, Greater Media, Cox, Lincoln Financial, and many others,” company Vice President/General Manager Paul Jacobs notes. “We were recognized early on by iconic brands like K-Love and Air1, which opened up the Christian Broadcasting world to us. ‘Car Talk,’ C-SPAN Radio, and other great non-commercial radio franchises have added to our portfolio. And then we moved beyond radio to become a leading developer for great events and festivals like the Ann Arbor Art Fairs, The Detroit International Jazz Festival, and this month’s Taste Of Atlanta.”
“We’ve been fortunate to build a team of smart, young talented people here in Southeast Michigan,” Jacobs continues. “Our apps are truly ‘exported from Detroit,’ and showcase the resurgence of the technology industry in an area more commonly recognized for its heavy industry.”
The future for jacAPPS is bright. Fred Jacobs remarks, “We see nothing but growth and expansion ahead. By blending strategy, research, and keeping a laser focus on the consumer experience, our expectation is that jacAPPS will become a leader in full-service mobile resource for brands of all types that recognize the mobile future.”
