FAQ

1.    How much does an app cost, and what are the initial steps to have one built?

Apps are like buying a car – the more features, the more it costs.  The key is determining the right strategy and understanding the end user.  We achieve this by asking questions like these:

  • What is the main objective of the app?
  • What features will be included in the app?
  • Is there a strict deadline?
  • iPhone, Android, or both?
  • Do you have an Apple/Android Developer account?

You’re here, so your initial steps have already begun. Just contact us (make this a link to our contact page) to get the process underway.

2.    What is an Apple/Android Developer account and how do I get one?

Apple requires that the owner of the app’s intellectual property place the app in their own Developer Account.  An Apple Developer account is $99/yr and an Android account is $25/yr. We’ll help you with the paperwork and offer guidance to create your account(s). An Apple Developer account in mandatory however if you would like us to submit your Android app into our account we will do so at no charge to you.

3.    Who is responsible for creating app artwork?

It’s up to you. If you would like to create the artwork yourself, we’ll provide you the specs and will use it. However, we can gladly turn your vision into reality.

4.    How long does it take to make an app?

App complexity varies greatly between projects. On average, it takes four to six weeks. Please note: If strict deadlines exist we can be accommodating.

5.    Will my app work on all platforms and devices?

Unfortunately, the mobile world is riddled with various platforms, providers, and devices–some  cutting edge, some going out of date, and everything in between–making full platform/device coverage impossible. Currently our iPhone apps are supported on iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads running iOS 3.1 or above. Our Android apps are supported on devices with operating systems of 1.6 and above.

6.    Why do I need an app if I have a website?

Think of the way you use apps on your smartphone.  Probably not the same way you check out web sites on your computer.  As a general rule, an app should enhance the mobile experience, complement a website, and  drive traffic to it, not compete with it. That said, in many cases it makes sense to include web pages in an app. For this we encourage mobile-enabled pages. If you are not set up for mobile-enabled pages we can create them for you.

7.    Can I review my app before it goes live?

Yes. We will send you a provision to test the app on your device(s).

8.    Can changes be made after the app has gone live?

Changes can always be made, and let’s face it, consumer demand in the mobile space is constantly changing.  Plus, they’re a good way to spike downloads and generate app interest. Whether it’s changing a phone number or adding in a cool new feature we can take care of your every need.

9.    What’s better, a native app or mobile app?

We believe that simply building a series of web pages and putting them on a mobile device defeats the purpose and limits the functionality of a smartphone.  Consumers are used to going to the app store, downloading an app, and having full functionality.  While incorporating mobile web pages into an app is essential for a positive consumer experience, going the mobile app route is the best way to go at this time.
